Work Packages and Tasks

WP1: Connecting Passengers for seamless travel and sustainable mobility

This WP involves all of the ETPs working together to identify and assess the level of integration foreseen by the relevant strategic research and innovation agendas (SRIAs), when targeting the delivery of a fully connected passenger experience across Europe. Resulting from this assessment, credible joint implementation plans will be developed.

WP2: End to end logistics

Working together the ETPs will identify and assess the level of integration foreseen by the relevant strategic research and innovation agendas (SRIAs) when targeting the delivery of a seamless freight transport and logistics operation across Europe. Resulting from this assessment, credible joint implementation plans will be developed in two major fields: urban logistics and long distance freight transport. The progress achieved in those areas by research and innovation projects will be benchmarked in order to identify remaining and new research gaps to be addressed.

WP3: Modal SRIAs and roadmaps

Although the SETRIS project puts most of its efforts on a systemic approach for transport addressed from a multimodal point of view, a certain number of technical or organisational issues remain specific to the various transport modes. Therefore, WP3 will enable various European Technology Platforms (ETPs) to consider, individually, issues that remain linked to their specific mode and/or their particular activities.

WP3 addresses the specific challenge of the call for the ETPs and provide an opportunity for additional strategy work to enable each ETP to address further topics with a common level of understanding. Each task has a dedicated focus on an individual ETP and these Tasks only include specific ETP partners. Their objectives are to support the European Technology Platforms by complementing the works undertaken under the current FP7 CSA’s such as FOSTER RAIL, MESA FOSTER-WATERBORNE and ALICE (Logistics) by filling the gap between the end of the projects and a future expected follow-up project answering the second open call of HORIZON 2020 (2015-2016). ERTRAC had a similar project, FOSTER-ROAD, and as such does not need to undertake additional work within this WP as they are already prepared to work on combined activities with the other ETPs.

WP4: Dissemination, communication and engagement

SETRIS’ strategy for disseminating and exploiting the results will include activities to ensure synergies and convergence, in particular it will outline the synergies between the transport-related European Technology Platforms and the wider research community and bring attention to the benefits that the integrated approach of the five ETPs in SETRIS can bring to political, economic and societal issues. In addition it will create links and coordination with interested parties including the European Commission, ERA-Net, Member States and Associated Countries National Representatives, national platforms, international portals and databases including TRIP follow-on, HERMES, US-TRB, OECD/JRC and other global players.

WP5: Sustaining a durable Transport Research Arena, TRA

SETRIS will support TRA Conference with dedicated activities; it will first assure to provide the necessary inputs to the preparation of the 2016 conference by organising the participation of the different ETPs to the different Committees and Conference’s associated exhibition. Moreover, it will develop a number of guidelines and recommendations on TRA governance, based on the past years’ experience that will strongly consolidate the upcoming and future TRAs and assure its sustainability.

WP6: Project Coordination

WP6 ensures the smooth project implementation according to the plan; monitoring the planned progress of the activities in the various work packages, identifying risks, drafting and validating the project deliverables to be submitted to the European Commission. This WP ensures all milestones are met, deliverables achieved and submitted on time and that the project meets budget.
